RUG WOMAN
Rug Woman (2024) is a short animation in the action animation style of the 80s/90s superhero cartoons. It was created as part of the LazyTV series for Lazy Susan's Drag Race Down Under socials package.

Rug Woman is a short 30 second animation project commissioned by drag queen Lazy Susan. We wanted to mimic the style of 80s/90s cartoons such as Captain Planet and He-Man.
I had complete creative freedom regarding the art direction and really pushed to make it feel like a real retro cartoon. We also had it physically transferred onto VHS to get that real authentic 90s crunch.
BACKGROUNDS
We focused on very detailed, painted backgrounds to contrast the simple, flat animation of the era.
ONOMATOPOEIA
You can't have a superhero cartoon without some stupid, rug-based onomatopoeia title cards.
